I’ll be honest with you. I am not a big salad eater. There I said it. I have been trying to incorporate salads in my diet since last few years and my salad consumption did improve in the last year or so. I am always looking for a good, hearty salad recipes so if you’ve got one, please do share in the comments below. Here are some of my salad recipes that you should try because they are simply yummilicious.
Quick, Easy, Nutritious, Low Fat, High Fiber Tabbouleh Salad is made with Bulgur Wheat ( Cracked wheat, also known as Dalia in India. ) This tasty salad can be adjusted to suit one’s taste. Here’s what’s tricky..Bulgur and Dalia are both Cracked Wheat but Bulgur might be partially or fully cooked i.e. the difference is that it is soaked and steamed/ cooked before cracking, hence its finer and more refined.
Ingredients and Method:
1 cup Bulgur Wheat (Cooked)
2 cups water ( To cook Bulgur)
1 Large Tomato
1 cup boiled chickpeas
3/4 cup green onions
3/4 cup cucumber
3/4 cup chopped parsley
1/4 cup Red Pepper
1 tsp Salt (adjust per taste)
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
2 cloves of garlic minced
3 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp olive oil
1. Cook Bulgur wheat in boiling water (Ratio of what to water- 1:2)
2. Prepare dressing by mixing lemon juice, olive oil, minced garlic, salt and pepper
3. Combine all the salad ingredients, pour the dressing over. Mix well and chill for 15 mins before serving.
– This healthy lunch salad can be paired with fish, chicken (or meat of your choice) for a complete dinner. You can also fill it in wraps for lunch on the go.
Super easy, healthy and yummy Beet Salad recipe with homemade dressing. This is really nutritious, low calorie, low fat, raw salad.
2 cups Beets (peeled and julienned or cut in long strands)
2 cups carrots
2 cups Cabbage
3 tbsp Toasted Almonds (Really Make the difference in taste in this salad)
1 tbsp Soy sauce
2 tbsp Honey
2 tbsp Avocado Oil (or Olive oil/grape seed oil)
1.5 tbsp Lemon juice
1 tsp Salt and Pepper
Prepare the dressing and add it to veggies. Season, chill in the fridge for 20 mins and serve. It can be a great side dish or hearty salad in itself.
Low Calorie, healthy and flavorful Cucumber and Beet Salad can brighten up any Indian meal.
(Chukandar aur Kheere ka salad)
1 cup julienne/ cut in thin long strands Cucumber
1 cup julienne (or shredded) beets
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper pwd
1/2 tsp roasted cumin pwd
2 tbsp roasted peanuts
2 tbsp chopped green onions
Mix all the ingredients well and serve with your Indian meal or make a big bowl of salad and enjoy it for lunch.
You can prepare easy and quick Asian noodle salad using chowmein noodles, carrots, red pepper, green onion, sesame seeds, oil, peanuts and simple dressing.

Aloo Chana Chaat is my take on Indian Street food. Aloo Chana Chaat is basically an Indian snack, quite healthy and literally means Potato-Chickpea Salad with tons of yummy flavours.
1 Cup Boiled Chickpeas (Chana)
1 Cup Boiled Potatoes
1/2 Cup chopped tomatoes
1 tbsp Green chilli (Handle with care your mouth might get burnt)
2 tbsp Green Onions (Optional but adds a nice bite)
2 tbsp chopped cilantro
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp roasted cumin pwd
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 cup Tamarind Sauce/Chutney
2 tbsp fresh cilantro leaves
4 tbsp Plain homemade yogurt
1/2 tbsp Mint Leaves (I used dried)
1/2 tsp black pepper powder
(Blend all dressing ingredients together for smooth paste)
Simple mix all ingredients together, pour the dressing over and serve in mini tartlets or party cups.

Flavorful Mango Salsa (Fresh Mango Salad Recipe)can be enjoyed as a salad by itself, as a side dish with your main meal or as an appetizer/starter with chips or pita bread
2 Cups of Mango
1/2 cup Tomatoes
2 tbsp Bell Pepper (Green, orange or Red)
1 Cup Cucumber
1 tsp Mint Leaves
1 tbsp Cilantro Leaves
Salt per taste
1/2 tsp red Chilli flakes
1 tsp Coarsely grounded Fennel seeds
1 tsp Roasted Cumin Pwd
1/2 tsp Black Pepper Pwd
1-2 tbsp Green onions chopped
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
Combine all the ingredients. Mix Well and Let it Chill. Serve as you like.
