The Royal Wedding Menu

Everyone has been talking about Royal Wedding for weeks now and I have been curious to know the menu of this royal wedding 🙂

Well, the royal wedding menu has been revealed and I am surprised to see that Indian food is not on the list (except for a fruit chutney) considering the fact that Indian cuisine is really really popular in U.K. Ok, I agree that royal wedding guests didn’t want curry breath but what about some royal dishes like butter chicken, naan, shahi paneer or perhaps palak paneer.

It was all canapés and light fare at the Queen’s lunchtime wedding reception at Buckingham Palace following the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton (now Duchess Catherine) at Westminster Abbey earlier today. Here’s just a sampling of the wide range of canapés on the menu:

•Cornish Crab Salad on Lemon Blini
•Scottish Smoked Salmon Rose on Beetroot Blini
•Pressed Duck Terrine with Fruit Chutney
•Miniature Watercress and Asparagus Tart
•Quail Eggs with Celery Salt
•Miniature Yorkshire Pudding with Roast Fillet of Beef and Horseradish Mousse
•Assortment of Palmiers and Cheese Straws

The royal wedding spread also included Pol Roger NV Brut Reserve champagne and sumptuous desserts like blood orange pate de fruit, raspberry financiers, dark chocolate ganache truffles, and rhubarb crème brulee tartlets – but smart royal wedding party guests saved room for cake. The official royal wedding cake was an eight-tier fruitcake designed by luxury baker Fiona Cairns, constructed from 17 individual fruitcakes and decorated with white icing and 900 individually iced flowers representing 17 individual meanings from the white rose (national symbol of England) to ivy (symbolizing wedded bliss).

But who could deny Prince Wills his favorite Royal family recipe chocolate biscuit cake on his big day? Catering to the Prince’s request, an additional chocolate biscuit cake by McVitie’s Cake Company was also served.

Oh, well 650 royal guests might have missed on delicious Indian food but you don’t have to miss out on all those delicacies. Check out my favourite Royal dish : Shahi Paneer
