How to make authentic Punjabi Chole or Chickpea Curry?

I Love Chickpea Curry. It tastes great with Puri (Poori) i.e. fried Indian flat bread, Naan, Bhature, Roti and Rice. Check it out:

Ingredients

250 grams Chole/Chane/Chickpeas (boiled or unboiled)
(You can use Chana Masala and skip a lot of spices)
1 tsp Fennel Seeds
2-3 pods of Green Cardamom
Salt to taste
2-3 Green Chillies – finely chopped
2-3 Tomatoes – finely chopped
1 piece Ginger – finely chopped
2-3 Garlic Cloves – finely chopped
1 Onion – finely chopped
1 Tsp Garam Masala (Optional)
Red Chillies to taste
1 tsp Turmeric
1 tsp dry Coriander Powder
1 tsp Cinnamon Powder
2 tbsp Ghee (or Oil/ Butter)
2 pieces Bay Leaves
3-4 pieces Cloves
1 tsp Black Pepper powder
1 tsp. Jeera/cumin seeds
1 tbsp Tomato paste (optional)
1-2 cups of water
