Multi Layered Indian Flatbread | Easy homemade Lachha Paratha Recipe

Lachha Parantha (Paratha) is a round and flaky, multi layered Indian flatbread best enjoyed with curries or Indian vegetables. All you need for this recipe is whole wheat flour, water, oil for cooking (or butter/ghee), pinch of sugar and salt.

Everyone loves lachha paratha, because its loaded with calories and many times is made out of maida. Here presenting the recipe of lachha paratha made with whole wheat which is healthy. These Multilayered parathas are crispy and delicious. They can be enjoyed with any curry of your choice and also with pickles or dips ( Chutneys). If all else fails, make a simple yogurt preparation called Raita ( add in some spices like roasted cumin seeds, cucumber etc) and serve these parathas with raita. Ingredients/ Method

Dough to make Parathas. It’s just combination of whole wheat flour and water and here’s how you prepare it: Dough Recipe

Oil/ghee or Butter to cook Paranthas
Stuffing/Filling:

Grated Ginger- 1- 2 tbsp
Small piece of onion – finely chopped
1-2 green chillies ( Deseed them if you want the parathas less spicy)
5-6 Stalks of Cilantro (Finely chopped)
Grated Paneer (or crumbled) – 200 gms
Spices-
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp Ajwain (carom seeds)
1/2 tsp paprika
and any other spices you like

Method: Prepare the stuffing by mixing all the ingredients. Stuff it in small portion of dough and flatten it out with rolling pin ( using a little bit of dry flour), Once the dough is flattened out and thin..cook on a hot skillet with tons of butter/ghee or oil until both sides have brown marks.. Enjoy with pickle, yogurt, chutney or with cup of hot Chai.

St. Patrick’s Day Special – How to make Shamrock Flatbread?

St. Patrick’s day food might be associated with being greasy and unhealthy, this is one recipe that you can enjoy guilt free. Pair it with Masala Hummus and everyone at that St. Patrick’s day you are invited to will be wowed or simply prepare it to share with your co-workers or to get into St. Paddy’s day spirit.

Ingredients: Bunch of Spinach leaves and 2 cups whole wheat flour.
Method: Make spinach puree by blending spinach leaves with 1 cup of water. Add 1 to 1.25 cups of puree into 2 cups flour and make a dough. You can add 1 tbsp oil to the dough to keep it soft and moist. Let rest 10-15 mins. When ready to proceed, heat a pan/tawa/griddle. Flaten out small portion of dough (Golf Ball size) and you can either use a cookie cutter in Shamrock shape or cloverleaf shape to cut the dough out. Cook the shape on the pan until brown spots appear on both sides. Alternatively flatten out the dough, cook it until both sides have brown spots (2-3 mins) and then cut out cloverleaf shapes and serve with chutney of choice or Masala Hummus. Enjoy!
