Multi Layered Indian Flatbread | Easy homemade Lachha Paratha Recipe

Lachha Parantha (Paratha) is a round and flaky, multi layered Indian flatbread best enjoyed with curries or Indian vegetables. All you need for this recipe is whole wheat flour, water, oil for cooking (or butter/ghee), pinch of sugar and salt.

Everyone loves lachha paratha, because its loaded with calories and many times is made out of maida. Here presenting the recipe of lachha paratha made with whole wheat which is healthy. These Multilayered parathas are crispy and delicious. They can be enjoyed with any curry of your choice and also with pickles or dips ( Chutneys). If all else fails, make a simple yogurt preparation called Raita ( add in some spices like roasted cumin seeds, cucumber etc) and serve these parathas with raita. Holi snacks – Moong Dal Poori Recipe(Stuffed Indian Bread)

Here is a great recipe for stuffed poori that is perfect for weekend brunch. Pair it with Aloo Curry and you have a fantastic lunch ready.

Ingredients/Method

Oil for frying
For Stuffing: 1/2 cup moong dal
Salt per taste ( 1 tsp suggested)
1/2 tsp paprika
Turmeric
Fennel seeds
2-3 tbsp oil
( water as required)

For Dough
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all purpose flour
2 tbsp ghee and Water to knead the dough
Pinch of salt

Method:
Prepare the dough by mixing dough ingredients. Let dough stand for 30 mins.
Prepare the stuffing by grinding pre soaked moong daal. Fry it in a pan with hot oil and spices until it dries out and turns a shade darker.

When ready to make the poori, heat oil for deep frying in a pot. Take small golf ball size dough portion. Flatten it out with a rolling pin. Fill it with stuffing and close it. Flatten it out again and fry in hot oil.

Indian flatbread- Parantha stuffed with dry fruit

Meetha Paratha is a sweet Indian flatbread stuffed with cashews, blanched almonds, pecans, raisins etc (basically any dry fruit of your choice.) It is one of my favourite flatbreads especially because so many of my childhood memories are associated with it. As a kid, sometimes when I would be upset my mom prepared this tasty paratha for me because she knew I loved it. Now, I make it for my little ones and they enjoy it too.

Ingredients:
Plain Roti/ Paratha dough

Sugar
Dry fruit of your choice
and butter

Method:
Take a small portion of dough and divide it into two equal parts.
Roll it out as thin as you can and then add on dryfruit onto one part. Sprinkle sugar. Cover with the other part and seal the edges by pressing on with your finger tips. Cook on a hot griddle/ pan until brown spots appear on both sides. As you are cooking, you can add on ghee/butter. Enjoy as a snack or for breakfast.
