Simple Chicken Curry Recipe | Chicken Curry With Drumsticks

Chicken curry is simple and easy dish that can be enjoyed with rice, naan or roti. Homemade curry is healthier than store bought or restaurant dishes. Chicken drumsticks used in the recipe give great flavour to this curry. Here’s a simple recipe that even beginners can feel comfortable with. Ingredients

7-8 chicken drumsticks
2 tbsp Oil for cooking
1 tsp curry powder/chicken masala
1 small roughly chopped onion
1 tbsp ginger- garlic paste/or chopped ginger and garlic
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp crushed coriander seeds ( or powder)
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tomatoes or paste
2 cups of water
Spices used: salt, Turmeric and red chilli powder
Fresh Cilantro leaves for garnish
Adjust Salt per taste
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp Turmeric
1 tsp dried fenugreek leaves

Method:

– Heat oil in a pan and fry coriander/cumin/mustard for 30 secs.
— Add onions and mix well. Add ginger- garlic.
– Add salt, turmeric and chilli powder. Cook for 2-3 mins.
– Add chicken. Mix well. Cover and cook for 3-4 mins.
– Add tomatoes. Combine well with other ingredients.
– Add curry powder. Mix well. Fry for 5-6 mins.
– Add water and let chicken cook until tender and no longer raw.
– Add dried fenugreek leaves and cilantro. Mix well.
– Serve with Roti/naan or rice.

Bhuna Masala Chicken Recipe ( Indian Chicken Drumsticks recipe)

Bhuna Masala Chicken

 

Try this dry (sookha chicken recipe) with Bhuna Masala. Really simple and tasty way to prepare chicken drumsticks in the oven using basic Indian spices.

Ingredients/ Method
600 gms Chicken Drumsticks
1/2 tsp salt, red chilli pwd, Turmeric, Garam masala
1/2 tsp each cumin and coriander seeds
3 tbsp yogurt-plain
1/2 cup chopped onions
2-3 cloves of garlic
1 green chilli
small piece of ginger
2 tbsp oil

– Fry cumin and coriander seeds in hot oil for 30 secs. Add onions, ginger garlic and green chillies along with all other spices except garam masala. Fry for 2-3 mins until golden-brown. Let them cool down and then blend with yogurt and garam masala. Marinade chicken in this paste for an hour then bake at 400 F for 40-45 mins ( check to make sure chicken is no longer pink inside and is fully cooked.. individual oven temps vary so use caution)
Once done garnish with green onions, cilantro or you can even add couple drops of lemon juice. Serve with potatoes or over rice. Enjoy!

 

 

How to make butter chicken at home

Ingredients: 500gms boneless chicken, 4 tsp yoghurt, Salt as per taste, red chilli powder, tandoori masala, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander powder, drops of lemon
1/2 cup butter, oil for frying, 1 tsp cumin seeds, 1 large chopped onion, 1 tsp ginger garlic paste, 2 large tomatoes, 1 tsp tomato paste, 1-2 bay leaves, 2-3 cardamom(green cardamom), 1/2 cup whipped cream, 1/2 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder, 1/2 tsp mango powder, 2 cinnamon (sticks), 1 tsp brown sugar, 1 tsp Fenugreek leaves, Cilantro for garnishing

Instructions (Preparation Steps):
Cut chicken into small pieces.
Making Marinade :
Mix chicken pieces with 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp tandoori masala, 1/2 tsp cumin powder and 1/2 tsp coriander powder, 4 tsp yoghurt, few drops of lemon and allow it to marinate in fridge for about 1 hr.
Take a pan and put some 1/2 cup of butter add 1 tsp cumin seeds, chopped onion, ginger and garlic paste. Fry them until onions are brown. Take out the mixture and grind them.
In the pan fry tomatoes in butter again grind them separately.
In the same pan add 2 bay leaf, 2-3 cloves and fry them. Now, add the marinated chicken and when chick turns white add the onion paste and tomato paste to it.
Adding Spices :
Add 1 tsp cumin seeds, salt as per taste, turmeric pow, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp mango powder, 1 tsp brown sugar, some cinnamon to the mix and simmer the stove to form a gravy. After some 10 min add whipped cream and keep stirring. Add fenugreek leaves, 1/2 tsp black pepper pow, 1/2 tsp garam masala.Our mouth-watering Butter Chicken is ready.
Garnish with Cilantro leaves.
Serve with roti.

Some additional tips:

-If u want the onions u get brown quickly then just add salt to it while cooking.
-Whenever curd is to be added to the masala, it should be beaten well and added gradually.
-Sometimes cooking requires a lot of pre-preparation. Make masalas ahead of the time. Stock the masala in the freezer till not required for cooking. This method will save a lot of time
