Homemade Momos!

This Sikkimese appetizer is delicious and easy on the conscience too. There are two variants: Veg and Non-Veg!

Veg Momos

Ingredients:

• Maida – 2 cups
• Cabbage – 1/2 piece, grated
• Ginger paste – 1/2 tsp
• Onions – 3 nos, medium-sized, chopped
• Baking Powder – one pinch
• Salt – 1/2 tsp or to taste

Method :

• Put flour in a mixing bowl.Prepare a smooth dough by mixing the maida, baking powder and water together. Leave this dough for 6-7 hrs.
• Now roll out the medium sized chapattis from this dough. Now cut these chapatis into two halves from middle of the chapati (same as of samosas)
• Now in a bowl, add onion, grated cabbage, ginger paste and salt. Mix them well to stuff in.( Filling preparation)
• Now stuff the chapatti (half-piece) with this mixture. Do the same with all remaining chapatis pieces to make all the momos.
• Now steam these momos in an idli utensil for about 10 minutes. Or you can also fry them as the second option.

Chutney

Ingredients:

• Garlic flakes – 5 nos, chopped
• Vinegar – ½ tsp
• Red Chillies – 5 nos, chopped

Method :

• Prepare the chutney by churning red chilli, garlic and the vinegar in a mixer.

Non veg momos

Non veg variant can also be tried, the difference will be in the filling.

Ingredients:

• Minced meat – 500 gms (Can be chicken, buff or pork) Only for Non veg momo
• Minced Onions
• 1 tbsp Crushed ginger
• 1-2 tbs Crushed Garlic
• Coriander chopped
• 2 Green Chillies
• Salt to taste
• Garam Masala
• 2 tbs. Oil

Method:

• Put flour in a mixing bowl.Prepare a smooth dough by mixing the maida, baking powder and water together. Leave this dough for 6-7 hrs.

• Your momos are ready, serve with chutney.
