Last weekend, we were invited to an Indian wedding here in Calgary, Canada. It was a beautiful wedding at one of the prestigious local hotel with with about 250 guests. Although the wedding menu was simple, the food was delicious. Here’s what was on the lunch menu:
Appetizers (Served Before lunch) along with Coffee and Chai tea : Indian fritters/Mixed Pakoras, Almond (Badam) Burfi, Chaina Murgi/chena murgi (Indian Sweet) and Matri
Lunch Menu
– Rice and Naan
– Salad, Chutney and Pickles
– Roasted Eggplant Dip ( Baingan Bhartha)
– Peshawari Chole (Chickpea Curry)
– Shahi Paneer (Indian Cottage cheese curry)
Dessert
Gajar ka Halwa (Carrot Pudding)
Rice Pudding (Kheer)
Needless to say, every Indian wedding is not a grand affair. Things can be kept simple and yet they turn out great. I remember guests commenting that the food was very nice and every other aspect of the wedding was well done!
